Here is an image showing what is happening
if you make a Box, a Sphere and a Loft in 3D Studio Max
and then export it as a .dwg-file.
You can have a look at the .dwg-file in AutoCad if you like to
my file looked fine with the three items on separate Layers.
The circle and the line I had used to make the Loft were also on their own Layers.
I deleted the line and the circle but did not bother to delete their Layers.
And saved the .dwg-file quitting AutoCad.
Now you can in Revit go to File > Import and import the .dwg-file.
Trying to explode it in Revit to different 3D-objects does not work.
Anyone who knows then and what to explode?
To give the objects inside the imported .dwg-file materials
you go to Settings > Object Styles and bring in the materials from Material Library in Revit.
I choosed to only bring in some wood material for all the three objects.
Have a look at the image to see the result.
Then I Rendered the three objects. And the result is shown too on the image.
But the rendering some strange things happened. The sphere was jagged between the shadow and the lighed part.
And the Loft got different colors not depending on the lightning...
Anyone who knows a little more? Can write a tutorial about it?
maxlloyd has done some nice renderings in this way:
