Alright here's my issue....Does anyone know if it is possible to turn off the visibilty of a wall finish in plan? When we do drawings we never use to show exterior wall finishes on 1/8" plans, because all dimensions are taken to the face of sheathing or face of slab. We can still, of course, dimension to the core, but it gets alittle confusing for the consultants and contractors, who don't pay attention or read notes, when they see the extra lines for the exterior finish.
Any suggestions?

You could use the override host layers and make finish layers a white line so they are not visible in plan...

Thanks for the idea but that really doesn't do it...you can only turn the inside cut lines to white, and if you turn off the visibilty of the cut pattern it is basically the same thing as setting the detail level to course. What I'm trying to do is eliminate the exterior finish line, while leaving the cut line for the core and leaving the interior finish line.
I know...probably impossible....but...any other ideas?

I don't think you looked in the correct settings.
Goto you visibility settings for that view-->where it says Override host layers down the bottom, hit edit.
Now you can set colours and linetypes for each individual layer of the wall. So you could change your finish layer there...
But that will the best you can do, other than creating the finish layers separately and then using filters to turn them off...
HTH.

will these settings also prevent dimensions snapping to the finish rather than to the core
as they are supposed to do?

No. You can however set your dimensions to pick core faces as opposed to finish faces once in your dimension tool. However, it will still tab to finish layers.
