How can one create a typical flat, commercial/industrial roof as on millions of buildings in the US?
Roof would have a level edge with faces sloping away at min. 1/8" per foot to low points (see attached image - dashed lines indicate sloping valleys, circles in rectangle are drains at low points)

For low slope (i.e. flat roofs) I generally don't bother modeling the slope. I just truely show the roof as flat then use details lines on a roof plan to indicate slopes.
If you do want to model, then you have to decide how far you want to take it. for a single direction slope it is pretty simple, just use slope arrows or define a roof edge as slope defining and give either a positive or negative slope (i.e. -.25"/ft for high side or .25"/ft for low side).
For the side slopes is that accomplished with tapered insulation or is the steel and roof sloped? If tapered insulation I would add another "roof" on top of the main roof to get the slope. If the steel slopes then you have to model each "triangle" of the roof.
Personally the single slope with added detail lines is the way I would go.

I had used detail lines as you suggest but then decided to bite the bullet and model the whole thing. Got a pretty good result after about an hour. Just a pity to have to spend so much time on something so basic that should have been in Revit from day one.
