I'm starting a project (hotel) and I'd like to have a pond / lake on the site near to the hotel. How would I go about creating one?

this might be similar to aspects of a swimming pool - there have been a few threads on that so do a search and check it out. otherwise you could split your toposurface, make the split region 'drop', then add another toposurface at the water level and make it water.
hope that helps, but the experts may have better ideas.
