can anyone explain what a circular chain refernce means and how to detach it from the walls. I am drawing a building with a curtain wall system. Around the buiding at each floor is a concrete band that wraps around. as I get close to finishing the band it gives me that error. i kind of understand what it means but don't know how to remove the refernce.
Thanx

Sounds as though the band is constrained to something. Before editing/creating it use the unjoin tool and cut and paste it in the same place. This should hopefully remove any references/constraints that had been set.

After cutting the object and trying to paste it in the same place it gives me the chain reference error, not allowing me to even paste it back in the same place. I tried to detach the wall but nothing seems to happen when I do this. Is there anything else I could remove to get this to work.

Sorry can't really help anymore without looking at the file. It may be an idea to send the file to Autodesk Support as it may be a bug...
It really could be any number of things.
