I have an area plan created from my Main floor plan. I put all of my room lines inside so that I could aquire the SQFT of each room. Now I want to have another area plan of the same floor plan so that I can get the total sqft of my building. I am working on a building equation. When I go to create another area plan of the same floor plan, it wont create another one. My guess is because one exists of the floor plan. So I then duplicated the area plan and deleted the room lines, but now it deleted the room lines in the first area plan. How do I create another area plan of the same floor plan w/o the two effecting each other?

For the first option sounds like it would have been easier to create room tags and a room schedule and use the automatic areas from that rather than tracing all the walls. As for the Area plans: Area boundaries exist for each "area scheme". By duplicating the area plan they are both essentially for the same area scheme so a change in one will effect the other. You can create new area schemes in your settings-->room and area settings-->Area Schemes The defaults are Gross Building & Rentable, however you can have add new ones as you see fit. Then to create a new area plan associated to one of these schemes go to view-->new-->Area Plan HTH.
