I have a 2.4Ghz computer with 2GB of ram. The video card I have is a real dog in Revit. It is an old dual VGA PCI card with only 64MB of memory. What would be a good card to upgrade to? WIthin reason... I do not want to spend a ton of dough on a new card. I would like to keep the ability to have dual monitors in VGA format. I have to kickin CRT displays that I want to maintain. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Duh. That's "two kickin'", not "to kickin".

From experience I can say that a good card with dual output would be the ATI AIW. I've seen the new AIW 2006 Editions (256mb RAM, stellar 3d Rendering, dual VGA output plus other goodies.) on sale for anywhere between $140 and $200. Only two problems I can see you having with this card: - It comes with a bunch of other software and features (TV Tuner with PVR function, Multimedia Software Package, etc, etc). - It's an AGP 8x (possibly 4x?) card, so unless you have an AGP slot open you won't be able to use this card. I used this card on my HTPC and played with Revit on it for a little while. All I can say is w0w! HTH and best of luck!

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!

Thanks for the recommendation. I need to get something for here and home that is more capable. I've been using the same video card for years now. It is fine for dual monitor and 2D cad - but it lags bad on Revit. Also, my bad again... my current card is AGP. So the one you mention may be ideal.

The one I am reffering to requires an AGP 8x/4x slot. If it's a relatively modern Mainboard you should be good to go. http://shop.ati.com/product.asp?sku=2685566 Suprisingly enough, this is their cheapest card. I had great success with it's rendering capabilities. There are some other... more expensive options under Game Cards if you want to look at those. Good luck!
