I have an earth filled region with a dark background solid pattern and it is not covering over the lighter solid surface pattern of the wall. I have tried bringing to front and forward and can't get it to cover up. Any ideas?

Why does the answer always come to me after I post? Crazy! Aanyway, I edited the filled region to be masking and then it covered the wall surface pattern but it doesn't show the foundations in the earth like before.

Its always the little things we seem to overlook. Just the other day I was trying to align a surface pattern for floor tile and no matter what I tried i couldnt get it to work, then I finally realized it was a drafting pattern and not a model pattern lol.
