I have some down time at work so I thought about trying to learn Dynamo. However, I am not sure how we would use it in the company. How do you use the program?

Dynamo is a powerful tool but it is not for the typical user. Look first at some of the available scripts and see if you have any applications for tose or something similar. It is really useful for repetative operations in one or more projects. You have to be creative enough to come up with a useful application and I think you have to use it enough to remain sharp on how to create your scripts.
