Is it still not possible to get the skylight room name to show up nativly in the window schedule? Does anyone have a solution for this?

There may be a simple solution for this called room awareness.

That is awesome!

I was able to adjust the family to get to show up in the location field of my window schedule but for some reason it won't stay in the schedule. Any idea? See the video of what I'm talking about.

I looked at the video but that is NOT a Revit schedule.  It looks like a spread sheet.

I'm lost....

Why would you be filling in data that Revit would be supplying automatically?

I assume that the SYM column is your window - correct?  It's location should data field normally is automatic - why would you make it otherwise?

Correct the SYM column is the window/ skylight.

The issue is the Location column.

Correct Revit should be filling this in automatically/ providing you with 2 options (To room and From Room).

You gave me a link to be able to modify the room awareness so I could get the skylight to produce a room name. Which worked. (Prviously I just had 2 blank options.)

It now displays a blank field (which is the space above the roof which isn't a room at all) and Linda's office (the room where the skylight is located).

The issue is when I select Linda's office as the location i want to use it selects it and then clears the field and it's blank again (like in the video).

Does this clarify?

Do I see a skylight in the room to the left and does that one report correctly?  If so then you have something else wrong.  Look again at where your reporting point is in the family.  It does not need to be within the family limits, I would make it be farther away than the thickness of your roof.

Learn to pay attention when you place items like doors and windows.  Before the room aware fuction was added, we had to pay attention to how we placed the opening to get the correct reporting.  I did that all the time but many users could not figure it out.

Yes, there is a skylight in the next room but all of my skylight behave the same way.

See the family showing the calculation points.
