Good morning,
I hope somone can advise on my quandry.
A large developer has asked us to produce a pack of standard construction details that they can then circulate to all architects they work with. Our firm is so good at the technical side that they want all other firms to use our details. Which is a compliment to our ability but by giving away our details to be used I feel we are losing our unique selling point and intellectual property.
The develoer is wanting us to provide DWG files and revit files. I have created a blank revit project and added sheets with drating views for a range of details which other copanies can then insert into their own project files and tag in plan and section.
My query is, can i make all the detail components dumb prior to sending the file? This would allow other companies to tag detail but wouldnt get the benefit of all the custom detail compnents we have made. Like in AutoCAD when you have a group and explode it, can i somehow explode the Detail ocmpnents, or strip them of their parameters so they are stuck as shown.
I hope this all makes sense. We sometimes recieve planning models and the wall build ups are stupid and cant be changed, which i assume they have done something to prior to sending over to protect their property. Is this a 3rd party app, or something you can do within Revit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If anything needs further explained please let me know.

You say details .... so make them all just that - details.
Export your smart details to CAD and reimport into your shared revit file as a detail.
