i would like to create a stair with the lower 3 steps to be enlarged and my railing to go to the bottom floor. as apposed to creating a model-in-place family for those 3 steps where my railing doesnt recognize. i am attaching a pdf of this stair. in the pdf i have a description of what i want to do.

Go into edit mode for the stair and press 'Convert'.  The 'Edit sketch' button becomes available.  You can then use the boundary and Riser tools to edit the risers.

so i have been able to covert to edit but my problem is that i would like the lower 3 steps to be risers on all sides or at least 3 sides of the tread. as reflected in my screen shot that i attached to my original post. secondarily or as important is to get the railing to extend down to the bottom tread of those enlarged steps and not have the railing flatten out but keep the same angle as it does going down the stairs.

You can edit those bottom treads to have risers on all sides but they must be riser lines, not stair stringer.

You can also add a railing segment and adjust its slope and height correction - see pictures.
