HI
Excuse my ignorance if this is a stupid question but I am a new user to REVIT. I have a small problem.
I have a master floor plan and from this I have added a call out to create a smaller detailed plan. On this detailed plan I now want to create elevation symbols but as the detailed plan is a 'Detail view' the elevation tool is greyed out.
What can I do?
Any help is much appreciated
Thanks.

Delete your call out and duplicate the plan view at a greater scale. Then add your elevations to the duplicated view.

If I do this is there a way to reference a detailed plan back the larger plan automatically?

I just checked and you can put elevation into a call out view. So go back to where you where at the start and try again.

Ah I see the problem now.
I still can't add elevations to the detail view, but I am running REVIT 9 had a quick look back in RIVET 8.1 and I have no such problem.
I'm guessing this is a RIVET 9 issue? I'm still awaiting updated installation disks from our supplier so I hope this will fix our problem thanks for the help.

Has anyone found if it is possible to add elevation markers to detail views in Revit 9? If not, any suggestions on a workaround?

Based on what I know and have read so far, you have two choices when placing a callout. You can place a detail view or a view that is the same type as the parent view. If you're using the callout on a floorplan - I might suggest going with the type of callout which is the same as the parent view and not the detail view. As you have discovered, elevation views cannot be generated in this type of view - but they can in the other type of callout view. Hope this helps.
