I am working with a curtain panel family in Revit 2019. I have a few Instance parameters applied to the family, and I have set these to different values in the panels within my project. The problem I am having, is that when I make a change to the family and re-load it into the project, the instance parameter values change back to what they were when the family was initially placed... and I have to go through the project and set the Instance parameters again.

I have tried re-loading the family with "overwrite the existing version" option and "overwrite the existing version and parameter values", and I am getting the same result.

Has anyone else experienced this? Anybody know how to retain instance parameter values when families are reloaded?

Overwrite existing version only should not do what you say.  Look at this:
