Revit 2017 - I just created my first solid from a profile. I have attached what I created. I need to rotate it 90 deg in the z axis. Can this be done in Revit. IF so how would I do it. - Thanks Byron

Redo your extrusion placing the profile on a different axis (work plane) and extruding it perpindicular to that plane.
Extrusions can be solids or transparent materials. You need a solid to host a void.
In your last image, almost everything is transparent ... something wrong with your sttings for the view - not the capstone.
