Hello all, after researching a bunch I still cannot find a solution to purging all unused viewport titles from our project templates, see attached screenshot of our long list of mostly unused viewport titles. We are only using two of these - we've tried purging all, we used Ideate Explorer to make sure no others are in use, but they are still here. From the other forums it seems like a system family. People are saying to find and delete from Project Browser>Familes>Annotative Symbols, but "Viewports" and "View Titles" are not on the list. The category also doesn't exist under the purge dialog list. Any ideas how to get rid of these? Much appreicate for any help!

See dynamo or buy Ideate Explorer addin or CTC BIM Manager Suite has free tools to bulk purge views.Or just knuckle down and delete them one by one.

We have ideate explorer, see the screenshot and description in first post - for some reason it only shows the two viewport titles in the project even though the list shows a bunch still. when we purge viewtitles are not in the list so they aren't being deleted. how do you delete them one by one?

Sorry, I got confused. I see now you are talking about Viewport Title Types. To delete these you need to change all views to the Viewport Title Type/s you want to keep. When there are no views using the Viewport Title Types you want to delete, hitting purge will allow Revit to list them and you can then choose to purge them from your project. Check schedules as well.

No worries i appreicate the help. So I've tried that and it isn't working. I have changed all views to the viewport title i want, and checked schedules too. Although none of the old viewport titles are in use, when I go to purge there is nothing listed, see attached. I'm beginning to think this is a glitch and afraid there is no way to get rid of these old ones?

Try creating a list of all views. (View tab » Schedules ▼ View List) and include the fields, "View Name" and "Type". Under the Sorting/Grouping tab, set the "Sort By:" to "Type". This will provide a list of the Views according to their View Type so you can easily find out if a particular View Type is currently in use.

I think View Types are different from Viewport types. As I created this list, it sorts the views into Floor Plans, Building Elevations, etc. Not into the Viewport types I would need to know. The Ideate Explorer correctly shows that the only two types in our project are "Detail Title" and "No Title." Neither Ideate or our purge box show the "Presentation Title with Line", "Section 1", "Title w Line", "Title w/ Line", "Title With Line", or "Viewport 1" types. I assume these are leftover from old projects at the firm. Since we are revamping our standards I was hoping to get rid of these forever.

Sadly, no. This is still talking about View types which are different from Viewport types.

Here is another thread asking the same question as me. Someone answered explaining the issue, but it is still unsolved. In my case, it seem someone at my firm many years ago must have copied the default viewport that is hardwired into revit and cannot be deleted.
