Hi all
i would like to have a schedule for checking variation in quantity.
for example, i need to get volume of total walls in my project file in one column, and the next column i want volume of walls from linked model only.
is it possible? even with any formulae work arounds? then i can see how much a quantiy is in my model and how much in the linked model, if any variation then i can report it fast.
this is for a special need in our company , may be it sounds strange for u, but the quation is, is it possible in revit?

Hi Zakazai,
You can create schedules that include Linked Model elements. See link below:
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2016/ENU/Revit-Collaborate/files/GUID-EE92017A-F29C-4568-A51F-CAFA7D714EE7-htm.html
Then use filters within the schedules to filter out the link model elements and another to filter out the host model's wall elements.
If you need to calulate volume total of walls, then add a 'calculation parameter' and set it's Type to 'Volume' and it's Formula to wall parameter's "volume". Then, under the 'Formatting' tab, change your calculation parameter from "no calculation" to "Calculate totals"
If you need it via wall types, do even more filtering.
Hope that helps, happy Revitting.

HI Shatner86
i know about checking linked model option in schedule. but how u filter it seperate. like in your sentence given below
"Then use filters within the schedules to filter out the link model elements and another to filter out the host model's wall elements."
how this is possible. if u have chacked include items from linked model, then can you list itmes only from link? i mean same items,
for eample, i have 6 beams in my arch model, and i have 6 beams in linked structural model, so in schedule can i seperate those 6 beams from the linked model?

hi Zakazai,
you said wall in your first post not beams. Not sure if Beams have a volume...?
However, to explain what i meant, I'll run through what i did to create the schedule showing linked file information only.
- Create a Wall Schedule
- Add in fields "Family" "Type", "Volume"
- Tick "Include elements in links"
- Select "RVT Links" from the drop down list under 'Select Available fields from'
- Add the field "RVT Link: File Name"
- Go to Formatting and set the Volume to "Calculate Totals"
- Go to 'Sorting/Grouping' and tick "Grand Totals" and leave as "Title, count, and totals"
- Now move to the 'Filter' Tab and filter by "RVT Link:File Name". I'd go for "Contains" but do whatever works for you to isolate the linked file.
- Click Ok.
Hope that helps.
