I need to allow a reference plane to move left or right within the width of an opening and need to be able to input a number from either side. Image might be a little more clear.
Basically i would like to be able to enter a number into B and have A more or vice versa once the family is loaded into revit. Any ideas how to get this to work? I am racking my brain trying to come up with a formula.

You need the width of the opening to do this.

The width would be a number that could also change lets just call the width "C"

Right, but what I am trying to do is make A an instance parameter and B an instance parameter so that I can enter a number for A, and B would change automatically. I also need to be able to enter a number for B, and have A change automatically.
Right now, if I were to make A an instance parameter B would become a reporting parameter. so I thought there might be a formula that I could use to input a number for either A or B and have both instances change. I know this is a little confusing, let me know if you need more explanation.
Thanks!

With out all of the information needed, I would suggest that you don't need this to work both ways. Use your flipper when door is inserted to get the imputed number on the correct side. Then the equation is always the same.
A second solution would be two different types based on which side the imput number is on.
