I want to make an 8foot tall, 2" thick foam wall, with a repeating vertical reveal every 2' , reveal material same as wall itself (SEE PHOTO). i thought I could do this as a curtain wall, but its not working out. Is there an easier way to do this? ANY HELP GREATLY appreciated for this struggling newbie !

Assuming this is a small length of wall with not many reveals, just create a system wall with the correct buildup from external face to internal face. Then place the wall in your project. Now add vertical wall reveals to the wall as you need to. You may need to create a new profile to get the desired shape of the reveal. If you find yourself adding too many reveals, this may not be the best option.
Alternatively, you could use an in place family if its a one off wall.If it is multiple walls you may need to think about creating an independent family with the reveal created as a void array, so the reveals are added as required by the length. The wall joints won't connect properly though.

Beau - It is a long wall, it is that padded foam wall typical at basketball courts, so it would wrap many walls, as we have two basketball courts. I am dumbfounded as to how to create it ! any more advice greatly apprecciated ! maddy

Create a n in-place wall hosted family - void - set to cut the host. Similar to one I posted here but vertical.

if you are putting you whole wall on the same wall then what wwhub suggested would be the best option but if you can separate the part with the intended reveals on a different wall type with small thickness like finish or something , you can use a cutain wall and the panel type as your wall type and make a special mullion type and make its material air , NB: this solution will cut your whole curtain wall
not the perfect solution but its the fastest one
