Hi Everyone.

Is there any one out there that has managed to creat a wall type (either directly or by face) that would produce a dry stack wall as in the pic attached??

Would love some input?

Thanks Smile

If I was doing this, I would not model the individual concrete elements and place them in a stacked arrangement to suit the retaining wall angle. Doing it like that would add a lot more detail than necessary to your model. Especially if the number of these retaining walls was high.I would create an in place family and model the outer faces of the retaining wall (exposed face/ face facing earth/ sides) as is necessary to allow the correct spatial requirements of the wall. So in effect, create a mass retaining wall. I would apply a pattern/texture that is sized to match the actual retaining wall units and a solid grey section pattern. You will need to create a pat file for the front face pattern. In detailing this, I would create a section / section callout and in that callout, hide the inplace family and draw over the top 2D lines to represent the individual unit sizes. Hopefully the supplier can provide you with unit sizes/ stacking arrangements to draw this accurately.

Beaucoupnice...   Thanks for your input. Much appreciated. I took the short cut route... made a family for the actual block... inserted on desired angles etc, then arrayed up and accross. Yes.. it does make a lot of detail in the file and slows a milisecond of regen time, but i grouped the wall and it helped a little. Have it "hidden" while i work and thus won't need to worry about it until printing / rendering etc.

Thanks again though Smile
