I am teaching (but by no means an expert) a class in Revit.  We are using Revit 2018.  Some of my students are having a problem with a temporary dimension disappearing when trying to convert it to a permanent dimension.  It only happens on occasion, but when it does, the only way I have found to correct the problem is to copy the entire project into another new project file.  Even this only fixes the problem for a short while.  Moving the file to another computer does not solve the problem.  This problem also happened some last year with Revit 2016.  I have not been able to find anybody else mention this problem.

I am pretty confident that this is a process error.

Are you sure that dimensions are on in the VG settings for that view?

I think I discovered the problem.  The student was hiding the category and not just the element.  Thank you.
