Hello,
I recently created a panel family and went to go align it to the wall, but it want's to change the dimensions when I do. It grows in whatever direction the wall is in that I am trying to align to. Here are some pictures of what it does.

Your family has control planes that allow for instance changes of the size parameter. Use your tab key when you select the face of the object to get the face and not the reference plane.
