I have been experiencing this issue for several years (and several Revit versions) and submitted several support requests to Autodesk on this issue with no resolution ...
I add a topo surface to a site model. The points were added manually as absolute values (the same thing happens when using Create from Import and using a CAD file). Once the site model is linked into the building using shared coordinates, the topo points change value ... if the original point is 11.18m, the point becomes 100m less = -88.82.
It seems to be related to my project base point which is set 100m below finished floor, but I cannot correct the points' value, it is now changed, even if I move the project base point 100m (back up to level 1). This makes editing toposurfaces very tedious as each point needs to be calculated, subtracting 100.
Please tell me that there is a fix for this, or at least an explaination because it happens all the time!

Yep Project Base Point sounds like the issue. The way that I avoid this is by modelling my site and my building in the same model. Doing this would resolve your issue completely and make life a little simpler as well.

Beau,
Thank you for your response. Simpler?? Perhpas on simple projects, maybe. However, if there are multiple buildings on the same site, in which building model would you host the toposurface? Or would you feel it is simpler to model all buildings in 1 file??
I think not! (sorry to by sarcastic)
I believe that the problem is with the project base point, possibly the survey point. But relocating either of these will have serious ramifications and haven't shown any positive result.
I am seeking a resolution or positive workflow to address this issue. Autodesk has offered no reaction. I am hoping to be able to do more than pull out a calculator or, what I've been doing lately ... entering the correct datum points, then move them all down the appropriate distance.
