Hi
I have searched alot about the issue with my columns that join with wall
1: Architectural column joins wall, i edit the family and unchecked the option to join wall, and reloaded to project, but the existing column still not changing even if i used unjoin geometry option (i use Revit 2017), buyt it works if i create new column.
2: If i attach the top of the newly created column that dont join wall, it becomes again like columns under blue marks in the attached pic.
3: If i use Join geometry option with a structural column to wall, and then i want to take it back as unjoin option, it is not possible. still it looks like in the pic.
is there any option? or i have to make a generic model family instead of using column.
in my plan i want to look like the red marked column,

Hi
I just did a quick sample of what you are trying to achieve.
An Architectural column seems to automattically join to the wall, and inherits the properties of the wall.
A Structural Column does not inherit the wall properties upon placement, and seems to retain its own material properties - and thus appears the way you intend it to appear.
I think the answer to your query is to use a Structural column family instead of an Architectural column family.
Cheers, David.
