Hi everyone. i've searched the forum. so far all i've read is 'paint it!'. thats not an option, its showing the wrong material. here are the facts put as simply as i can:

1. there are three layers to the wall

- concrete (concrete patern)

- air space (no pattern)

- insulation (hatch with yellow)

2. I made a reveal for the wall, when i add it the surface of the concrete shows yellow, not the concrete surface pattern.

3. take my word for it:

- the concrete material has no yellow in it

- the profile reveal is only cutting through the concrete portion of the material

4. I've copy/pasted wall into a new empty file and the problem persists.

5. if i remove the insulation layer (which has the yellow) then the concrete no longer shows yellow

6. see attached...

so how can i make this display with the conrete surface pattern instead of yellow?

Follow the advice you read - PAINT IT!.   The yellow you see is something in other settings but it will never be the surface pattern.

A solution would be to use a stacked wall - 3 different thickness - then only cut the slope and paint that one surface.
