Am I doing something wrong? I am creating my electrical/lighting plan. When I go to place an exterior light (coach light - residential home), it only shows on the site plan! Can this be changed? What am I doing incorrectly. I'm a newbie here just trudging my way through this project.

Here are a couple of likely reasons.Your plan view depth is too low to see the light which is placed at a high level. Adjust via having the plan view open with nothing selected, go to properties - extents - view range and click edit. See this image link for an explanation of how it works. http://redstack.com.au/-/redstack/lib/images/Blog-Posts/Revit-2016-R2/view-range.png
The light's category is turned off in the visibility settings. Assuming its a lighting fixture category, go to the plan its not displaying in and type vv to bring up the visibility/graphics overrides for that view. In the model categories tab go to lighting fixture category and make sure it is turned on
