I have several Area Plans that I have used to create BOMA diagrams. I used a common Area Scheme for all these plans... set up the view ranges / visibility settings to match the floor plans, and defined the area boundaries and placed areas. Now the client wants us to create a new set of diagrams using a different BOMA method.... essentially I need a copy of all the area plans I just made and redefine my boundaries in a slightly different way.
I have created a new Area Scheme for the new area plans My question is... Is there a way to copy all my existing area plans and change the Area Scheme within the copied area plan? Or do I have to create the new plans from scratch? I'm trying to avoid the touble of having to copy-paste all my area boundaries and areas into the new plans. I'd much rather just copy the area plans I have, switch the Area Scheme, and modify the existing boundaries. Is there a way to do this?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

OK, read it... as per my original post, I already know how to create an area scheme and assign it to an area plan. I am asking if there is a way to assign a different area scheme to an existing area plan, without having to recreate a new one. Do you know if this can be done?

So the very first paragraph says: "You can have multiple area plans for every area scheme and level. Each area plan can have distinct area boundaries, tags, and color schemes."..... As many plans and schemes as you want!
And in the Creating an Area Plan, it says "To create unique area plan views, select Do not duplicate existing views.
To create copies of existing area plan views, clear Do not duplicate existing views." ... << Not too hard to understand.
And then it says "Select one of the following:
- Yes: Revit places the boundary lines along the exterior walls of a closed loop.
- No: You sketch the area boundary lines." << Most people don't read there help enough to understand this.
And you do understand copy/paste from one view to another?

not sure why you keep giving me instructions on creating an area plan. I know how to do that. My question is not how to create an area plan, I was asking if there is a way to redefine an existing area plan to a different area scheme. Anyway, thanks for your time... I've posted this on some other forums, and gotten responses that this is not possible... once an area scheme is defined (when the area plan is created), it cannot be switched. New area plans need to be created with a new area scheme (for the benefit of others reading this thread)

Hellooooo - This is what you wrote! "... Now the client wants us to create a new set of diagrams using a different BOMA method.... essentially I need a copy of all the area plans I just made and redefine my boundaries in a slightly different way...." If that is not what you meant then you needed to write it differently!

Funny how everybody on the other forums understood me fine, and answered me without all the BS attitude. It's pretty obvious you've never had to use area plans in a real life scenario, nor understand how they work, which is why you probably just put my post into google, and copy pasted the first entry. But anyway, I get it... you're one of those suppressive people. People see you coming and think "oh christ... here comes so-and-so", and then do everything in their power to make their interaction with you be as short as possible. lol
