All,
I have spent the last 5 days trying to figure out how to do a roof in Revit. I can produce this same roof in Chief Architect in about 15 minutes using the auto roof feature in CA. I have bought two books, read every tutorial I can find on roofs and scoured the forums looking for the answer.
I am begining to feel that this roof is beyond Revit's capabilities, and sincerely hope that is not the case - I love Revit thus far.
I have attached a the first floor plan with underlay set to second floor. The bump outs on the plan all have gables with the rest of the roof being sloped at 10/12.
Any help at all getting me pointed in the correct direction would be most appreciated.

Doesn't look too hard at all?? Unless i'm missing something?
I always prefer to create roof sketches using lines rather than pick walls... But that's me.
Simply sketch the shape of the roof, set at the lines to be slope defining except where you want gables and pick the appropriate angle you wish them to slope at. Are all the plate/eaves heights the same? As this would be the only thing that would make this roof slightly harder to create.
HTH.

Heya, could you draw the rooflines (2D drafting lines) on the plan to further educate us on the problem you're facing?

I also prefer to create roofs using line sketches. This video helped me out a lot with this

I was also very frustrated at first with roofs but now I think I can do any roof just like I could
with AutoCAD. Even my 15 year old brother is doing complicated roofs.
I attatched thist chart I made a while ago to help me draw roofs exactly how they are constructed without having to draw my side elevations. It helps out when you have different plate heights
Don't give up, I had about 5 years using AutoCAD and now I'm doing all my new projects
with Revit.

Thanks for the response everyone. I think I finally cracked the nut on the flight home this evening. While the drawing is not finished I am slowly getting there.
I ended up sketching the entire outline of the footprint and then using slope arrows to slope my roof where appropriate.
