Hi
For a renovation project I need to remove an existing window and sliding door with Bifolds. To do this the engineers has specified the beams that need to be used as the openings are going to be bigger. Off these beams will be further beams going perpendicular outside to support the balcony.
How can i represent the beams in my plans? What are the steps to place the beams in the correct spots? Do i need to create openings in the wall above the new door frames to house the beam first?
I have kind of managed to add some beams above the doorways but not sure i have added them correctly as i can't view them as i would like to be able to edit the length/height etc.
When i try to add a UB beam i have to select which floor it attachs to, but i am struggling to see where the beams have been placed. What would be the best view to see the beams and how they are connecting, as i need to show measurements for them sitting correctly on the wall supports.Ideally i woulod like to be able to see them in thegound floor plan for New Construction, but not sure how i achieve this.
thanks

You do not need to cut the wall for the beam, it will show correctly in sections.
To show the framing, I would think you have a small framing plan that shows this steel.

Thanks. Sorry I am just learning - how do i create a framing plan? I have duplicated the ground floor plan, and changed the Discpline to structural. IN VG i have started turning off various categories, including walls, but still can't see the steel beams.
What ae the settings to create a framing plan please, i can't seem to find on www
I have managed to now see the beams using a 3d view, so i know they are located correctly - ish.

You need to look at your cut plane elevation (above the beams) and depth (past the beams) as well as your detail level (coarse will only be a line) and VG (structural beams on?).
