the question is, does anyone have any workaround on putting two different detail items in section view? The situation is, that I need to create revit window families, and need to have very detailed views in sections. So I model window in Revit, import dwg into detail item (I even can't expldoe dwg as it contains lot's of short lines, that Revit doesn't support, so I keep it as dwg), then I place that detail item into my section, make it vissible only when element is cut. everything seems fine. but what to do, if I have window with sash, and in one section it should be one detail item and if I make section on sash part, the detail item should be different. Any ideas?I have one idea, which can solve the issue, but it's  not perfect. make detail items vissible in differenet detail level. so in one level you cna see one section, in another you cna see another. Also I have idea, which I haven't tryed and is a bit too late too apply is to create separatelly two window families and "merge" them into one. maybe then it will have different detail items depending on the cut. however sash part is inside the whole window, so it might be complicated or I won't be able to model it properly...

I do not like nested detail elements because they can not be modified.    All of my window details are made so you can stretch where the cut line is to make the detail longer or shorter.  You can't have that adjustment with nested details.

I only use styand alone detail components.

can't you add parameters for them? If you add instance parameters, the you even can lock sides ant it gonna be streched (didn't try on detail items actually). However, I don't need any modifications as the profiles. gaskets etc. for windows are manufactured and can't be streched. Also I need various windows with various profiles, so I can easily change them, when it goes by nested families...

However even if I won't use nested families, the problem won't be solved, as all the details will be the same, without matter where the sections goes...

Any more ideas?
