Dear Collegue:

I’m in the process of testing and setting up a MEDIUM  size IPD REVIT project and would like to know what ae the pros and cons of IPD verses link model process. What are the main benefit for doing REVIT in IPD (with all discipline working in the same model).

I can see some of the benefit on coordination issue, but there is also a great fear from consultants worrying that their work can be accidently modify by other team members. If there are errors and omission as a result of this type of incident, claiming insurance will be an issue.

We can always use Worksets to lock down our own work in the project file.  In my experience, working with a project file with everything locked down is not always effective.  There will be a lot of editing request and waiting around for request to be granted.

Also I’m trying to work with BIM 360 for collaboration with REVIT and have a few question regarding the process (see video link attached).

While work with Manage A360 Model from inside REVIT, I find it difficult to delete project file and it will not allow me to upload and replace REVIT project file in the BIM360 folder.  Any workaround or insight will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for yor comments!

Best Regards,

PaulM

IPD and link model are not competative, you can do both with the same model(s).

All disciplines working in the same model is not good practice and no reason to do it.  We always use seperate models for each discipline be it a normal project or IPD.
