So I want base trim to wrap around my fire place. so making an inplace model, (see pic.) I (3d path) pick the wall, then trim it to the fire place bump out. then pick the main wall again. it then deletes the previous pink line on that wall. if I try to repick the earlier wall, it deletes the other. like a whack a mole game I simply have NO WAY to pick this wall, cant break the pink line.. what do I do?

Look at your first edge... something wrong there because it goes beyound your wall.

I have found pick edges to be somewhat strange but in this case .... look at your post "...pick the wall, then trim it to the fire place bump.  "   It is one wall - that's why when you pick it again, it deletes the other pick.

use the trim tool to make a 90 degree corner between the line for the wall on the right and the line on the top left.

Then split the line and use trim again to clean the linework up around the fireplace.
