So here's a challenge for those who are better than me Winking

I'd like to learn how to model a velodrome. In theory it seems simple enough: a split up sweep to accomodate for the changes in slope around the track. However, when I try this I always seem to end up with a kink or "fold" between sweeps.

Does anyone know of a way to get this modelled accurately and with markings? and to one-up this a bit: get it done parametrically? (tracks can vary in length and track shape widely, no fixed standards except for hard limits for banking at the corners and straights.

ANY help or pointers are greatly appreciated!

Two images attached to show the track construction.

Thanks

This can be done using a swept blend so you can have a profile at each end representing the different track banks.

I just mocked up a quick parametric quarter bank for you to use. You can adjust inside radius, track width, high bank angle and low bank angle. Use 4 or these pieces along with some sweeps/extrusions to link them together.
