I have two families. A 2x4 ceiling troffer light and a 2x2 exhaust fan.
The 2x4 is made to go into a ceiling and the other will only go in vertical surface
How do I make the EX go into a horizontal surface?
In the family itself the light is connected to a ceiling.
The EX is on top of an extrusion. I have no idea how to create a ceiling in the EX so I can't try that idea.
How do I create a ceiling in a Family or how do I make it attack to a horizontal object?

You need to understand hosts. Ceiling hosted objects will only host on ceilings. Wall hosted on walls ....etc. Face based will host on any face. The problem is, you can't convert one to another. You have to build from the beginning with the correct host.
