Hello All!
I'm trying to figure out this question which on the surface seems super easy, but can't find the solution so far.
I want to create a schedule to use for general notes but I would still like each note to have a number. I want that number to auto-reflect the number of notes in the schedule rather than each note having a permanent number assigned. In other words, if I have a schedule with 15 notes and note 12 gets removed, I want the schedule to automatically renumber the remaining notes 1-14 without changing the order of the notes. So 1-11 would not change at all. 12-14 would show for the remaining spaces.
How can this be accomplished? I assume a custom parameter, possibly tied to count?? Thanks for your help.

I don't see any way to do this and I don't like the process. Schedules can only reside on one sheet.
Your better process would be to use automatically numbered text in a legend view which can be placed on multiple sheets. This will renumber when you delete a line.

I'm talking about using note blocks to organize a lot of information. The are subcatagorized so we can sort them per project. However that information shouldn't change the solution as they act the same as any schedule. Is there a way to create a parameter that will detect the number of elements currently populating a schedule or custom parameter catagory and then use that information as the basis for numbering it?
Also there is no need to show the same general notes on multiple sheets

I deleted your duplicate thread.
Note blocks can have as many variables assigned as you want. Typically, they are assigned a number value that is an "INSTANCE VARIABLE" THAT YOU ASSIGN but it can use any variable / sorting / and filter in the schedule. You can even have two #2's each with different data in tgheir other fields. That is the number you are talking about. There is no way to make this 'smart' and detect other tags and to renumber accordingly. This is Data In = Data out. You control and have to manage it.
If you are only putting a unique schedule on each sheet and you want that schedule to be consecutively numbered so on sheet 1 you might have #2= Demo this and sheet 3 might have #10= Demo this then Revit has a biult in process for this. You use a keynote file and have the keynote 'schedule' set to number by sheet.
