Revit 2017, OS10

I have some doors types in the same project that I have to click "activate dimensions" to see the temporary dimensions and I have other door types that turn the temporary dimensions on automatically.  Why is that?  I cannot seem to find a check box to turn that option on and off in the door types.  Any ideas?

I read that Revit decides whether or not to show dimensions on selected objects based on how it will affect its performance.alsoRevit may not show dimensions if families are hosting nested shared families as it sees them as mutiple families.

The door type that does not get the automatic temp dimensions is a nested family and the door that automatically gets the temp dimsions is not nested, so that follows what Beaucoupnice said.  It kind of sucks though.  Thanks.
