Hi, A colleague of mine has been having an ongoing problem with his Revit model where in pretty much any view the model element edges appear to jump around, largely in the same way that linked/imported DWGs can sometimes do if they're not stripped down and contain blocks, polylines, solids etc. The strange thing is that this is a relatively newly created model (it's only a week or so old) and it's still quite small and in the early stages of building the model and there isn't much in the way of links added yet - 1 other Revit model (Architect's) and a couple of stripped down DWGs. Neither unloading or removing these links makes any difference, and I've just tried creating a new model and linking the problem model in and still get the same issue. Has anyone come across this behaviour before with model elements? I've attached an image which in theory should be a pretty clean normal column on the corner of an RC slab... Obviously, this issue makes any accurate modelling quite difficult and I would reall yllike to get some advice as to whether or not we should start the model again or if there's something that can be done to fix this. Thanks in advance for any help, Simon.

It looks to me that you have a cut pattern applied to the column.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, although I'm not sure how this makes any difference? The issue happens in every view (3D, plan, section etc.) where some elements are cut, some not etc.

i just didnt notice that you checked the normal things like visibility graphics overrides and your template overrides , and the phasing graphics overrides , and then try to detach you model and strip it out of everything except your column and then see if you are still having the same issue , and then you can sshare that file in here

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I've tried all that - and the problem isn't just the column in the image, it's all the model elements (and I've since been shown that it's also all the detail lines in the model. The only category not affected is gridlines).
I've just tried copy-&-pasting all the model elements into a new, clean model and got the same issue straight away...

I'm not sure what you are talkiing about or what your image really shows. Could your problem be the settings on your column family like 'precut in plan'?

No - the problem isn't just the column. It's every element in the model, with the exeption of gridlines, in every view. and they're all the same families that we ue in many other projects withotu problems...
As for describing the problem - the best way I can describe it is similar to the widespread issue when linking DWG files that have too much complex geometry like polylines, solids etc and blocks, where you get the lines in the linked DWG 'jumping' around when you zoom in and out. Except that every edge of every element is doing this, making it virtualy impossible to model correctly...

Are you modeling in orthographic views - true plans?
This may be an issue with your graphics card.

Hi again.
We're modelling in plan, section, 3D whatever... I don't think it's a graphics card issue as we've got other, larger models that work fine without anything like this problem. Also, it happens on multiple PCs so I guess it must be something in the model file.
