How does this Keynote thing works?
We have keynotes "Sheet Specific" and each sheet is numbered starting from 1 thru howmany.
How can we use Revit Keynotes in Similar way.

did anyone ever get info on this? the issue i am having is taht the standard my firm has adopted uses keyntoes the look like the window tags out of the box from Revit- so i am struggling with the way the system notes- i can make a new family and assign parameters worst case, but when we tag, we dont tag according to Spec sections or text- everything is a number that is referenced along the side of the final sheet in a legend. i am currently on the prowl for answers and will post back if i find something useful-

I don't know if anyone is still looking for answers but there are a couple things to note: There is a difference between "sheet notes" and "key notes". Sheet notes are generally used to notate the sheets (whether it be a plan, elev, section, etc). Key notes are generally used to notate details. Our firm's keynotes are connected to a keynote text file which assigns a CSI specific number and description to detail components. I think other firms use generic numbers which connect to a schedule. Keynotes are "linked" to detail components, Sheet notes aren't "linked" to anything specific. If you are trying to use sheet notes, the best thing to do is create one sheet note for each sheet or series and use the filtering abilities to filter out sheets you don't want. I.e. if you have sheet notes for your a02 series (in our case, these are construction plans) that symbol is called A02.00. That symbol is then scheduled using a Note Block which can be put on multiple sheets. Filter out what you do and do not need. This can get complicated, but once the front end work is set up - it's a lot easier. Hope this helps...

We are looking to use keynotes for the first time. We were hoping for a keynote linked to the database that isn't necessarily connected to any objects. I.E one we can use on line drawn details or just placed on sheets the same way you can with normal text annotaions. Would it be possible with these 'sheet notes' refered to here? Can't seem to find anything on the subject in the help menu.

Use the Revit keynote system for everything including drafting views. You can create an invisible detail component in the family editor, then place it in the drafting view and keynote "user". One invisible detail and as many keynotes in the view as you need.
