Hi all, refering to my earlier thread, that importing data from excel is not possible! I have the following issue. the create an functional programm for a complex building a could use a parametric Area family, or boundery family, with or without 3d content, that could generate the Areas of that family and the derived family types from that. To create the entire building program I need to adjust a few parameters in that family, like Width, Height and Proportion. I tried to create a family excisting of boundery lines, but Iwas not able to lable the dimensions, I also tried to create a wall family with a closed region, but didn't work either Even the area plan boundery didn't work. After that i tried to create a generic family, with a generic annotation tag for the area but couldn't get i working? Any clue? thnxs E enclosed is a scheme that I could like to create and to adjust, the area data will be exported to excel The color fill funtions should be working aswell, for the representation.

Through the API in version 9 I think it would be possible to take the Excel data into Revit. You would have to know how to program in .NET to make it happen. You may also want to explore using a "mass" family for the areas since in the mass family you can add the parameters you need and schedule the areas and volumes. Tom

thnxs,

i started of with a mass building block with several types , and it works fine untill now, all parameters are set,and I use the MARK parameter to have a unique name for each room.

I will ask a friend [a .net programmer] to have a look into the Excel thing, because that would be really cool].
