Hi: I am a relatively new user, so take what I say with that in mind! I'm pretty sure all you need to do is be in a plan view, go to "View", and as you move the cursor to "New" you will see a list of possible new drawings, including "elevation". You get one of those little squares with a triangle on one side. You position the triangle so it points at the elevation you want. There is a rotate feature if you rest the cursor on the box plus triangle. The next thing to do is click on the triangle. You will get a blue line and possibly a dotted green line with a pullable arrow. This is important - something I learned the hard way! The blue line should be positioned so that it doesn't cut through the building (unless you want it to - sometimes I do it for courtyard elevations) and the blue line should extend far enough that you pick up all the building elements/corners - it's a scope line. The dotted green line is also important - it creates a box around what you want to see. If the box doesn't include part of the building, you will get nothing, even if the blue line is in the right place. Pull/extend the box as necessary to capture the building in your elevation view. I hope this helps-
Deb

Thanks Deb.
That was where I was getting stuck. However after readig your response it gave me insight on something I saw earlier which gave me the answer. All I had to do was go into the properties and uncheck a few of the items selected.
Thanks
