I've watched tutorial on mirroring entire project. Basically, it shows going to each floor plan view, highlighting everything, go to subsequent floor plan views use "Ctrl" key and hightlight everything. Do this for all floor plan views. After selecting everything in the floor plan views you select the mirror command, uncheck the "copy" box and mirror along a predetermined ref. line. The mirrored version replaces the original version.
Looks easy on the tutorial / Problem arise when trying to duplicate tutorial.
1. my "copy" check box greys out and I can't check it.
if I group items on each view first then the "copy" check box does not grey out.
2. if I group all info. on each floor plan view it would seem that it should work fine.
after grouping each view and selecting all info. on each sheet I can still access the "copy" box. However, I get error messages in a variety of errors and some actually cancel the mirror command leaving me to wonder why this should be so difficult. So far it seems like it will be faster to redraw the project. Seems very unrevitlike.
Has anyone had any success mirroring entire projects?
What might cause the "copy" box to grey out?

Some things will not mirror. You might have to resort to trial and error to find the offending entity types. Groups, arrays, reference planes and reference lines are things to pay attention to.
Mirroring an entire building is a royal pain in Revit

Thanks
I was afraid of that, I can see 10-20% of what I could be doing mirroring existing house plans and making changes.
I'm considering exporting existing project to AutoCad and mirroring in there. I understand that I won't be able to use the changed plan back in Revit but it might be easier. Especially if you make the changes first and then export. Customer would end up with a Revit drawing that's backwards and AutoCad dwg that is correct.
Do you anticipate any shortcomings with this approach aside from having to go back to the Revit model for additional changes and exporting back to AutoCad and mirror again?

Seems that exporting to ACAD and mirroring the project there works better than trying to mirror it in Revit. It's still tedious especially since you may have to back to original Revit file make revisions and do the whole process over again. Atleast it's not a head scratcher.
Seems that you'd want all your information in the actual view before you export out. Doesn't seems to work well if you place information on the sheet before you export.
Any other suggestions are welcome.
Thanks
