Revit is really weak, in my opinion, in creating site images. The whole splitting the topo process to create streets, walks, etc. seems to be clumsy at best. Once you go through the convoluted process to create parking lots, streets, landscape islands, etc. it looks lame to have just the asphalt meeting the grass with no concrete between. Since you can only split internally, it would be a nightmare to try to create these by splitting the topo. Does anyone have a way to do this efficiently in Revit?

You could go to the Modelling tab and use the create function and use the sweep command to create the curb or side walk that you want. Also try the subregion function on the site tab.

...............you can create an exact profile of a curb and gutter, sidewalk with thickened edge, etc. But it doesn't work as well on sloping terrain. Creating a subregion on the sloping terrain works OK but you have no 3D look, no shadows, etc. It is just a plan thingy and doesn't look very good in a rendering. Is there no way to apply a sweep to the edge of a split away portion of the topo?

No, the site tools are really lacking in revit. One option is to export out the topo out of revit, make a solid out of it in another program, re-import it into an in-place floor family then apply a slab edge. Its a long winded process but the best we have at the moment....
