I am trying to build 3D topology using 8.1. I have imported topographic maps from a client and I am trying to trace the contour lines with the point topography tool. No Luck!!! When I "finish" the tool connects points that are on the outer most perimeter. I thought it had something to do with the triangulation option in the visibility and graphics menu. I am totally stumped. How can I reproduce the topology map in Revit, exactly? I need a little advice on this, my project is due in four days.

all the experts on this forum keep reminding us newbies to put points on the edge of where you want the topography to finish. maybe do that?
also, watch your elevation, at each point. make sure it is as per the contour level.
otherwise, it should be working. maybe others can help here.

I did the exact thing you are describing, quite successfully.
Start from one end of the site, run all the points of ONE (elevation) contour at a time, from one side to the other. If underlay becomes obscured, you can switch to WIREFRAME mode.
