Greetings.   (R2015)

I am seeing an increase in file sizes for no known reason. The issue came to light while I am updating our door library. I noticed that my file sizes were 1.5mb to 2.4mb ... extremely large for a family, in my opinion.

I then opened a door family and purged unused ... 3 nested families were purged. When I saved the family, the size grew +/-250kb. I took another family and renamed one of the types, saved and the file size again grew. I've had some families double in size.

I have tested this in my 2016 install, same thing.I have tested this on a clean 2015 install on a different workstation, same thing.

I recall that AutoCAD had a similar corruption with file sizes increasing 10 or 30 times in size. The DGNPurge cleaned this up. Is there a similar known corruption with Revit? Is there a fix?? I need 1, please.

I have seen file sizes grow if you only do a save.  But a save as creates a new file that is typically the most compact.   This is especially true with projects.

Thanks WW.

I've often used the SaveAs method to successfully compact projects but this has no affect on the file size for my families.  I have submitted a support request with Autodesk.  Hopefully they might offer something for this bloat.
