Is there a way to copy linework from a sheet to a view? I have just started working on a project at my firm on which someone else was working on before. The person has left and I see they drafted some details on a sheet. I do not want it on the sheet. I want to place it on a view as I think that is more efficient and the probably how it is supposed to be. But I am not able to copy the linework from the sheet to the view. I do not want to redraw the whole thing again.

it is working with me copying detail lines from a Sheet to view (drafting view  , floor plan , legend ) on revit 2014,2016 , but if it isnt working with you , there is a work around - export the linework you want to copy to cad and then import and explode it , but that will only work with small scale linework and it will need some clean up like scaling , and changing line types .

you can select all the linework on the sheet and then make it a group. then open up a view and draw something and create another group. then simply change the new group to the one you made from the sheet linework and ungroup it all.

Also if you were just trying to use the copy tool in revit (white and blue circle icon) that only copies within the open view or on the same sheet. you need to use the copy to clipboard under the modify tab just next to the paste icon or you can just cntrl + c and then cntrl + v to paste it.

Hey thanks to both of you for your response. I did the group thing and it worked. Thanks a lot.
