...Has this always been the case? I created a mass void family to load into another mass and funny thing...it's unusable for cutting voids since Revit does not allow it to be selected in the cut command and then says elements don't intersect in join command. I guess really stupid and don't use this enough and if this holds true this is pretty fundamental failure of the tool. Yikes! Basic boolean operation Autodesk!

I believe both the 'Cut' and the 'Join' tools will only work with local elements created within the conceprtual mass family. Make the void geometry within the same family as the solid.

I found that solids cut solids with nested forms in a mass family, but do not eliminate one or the other. The void only becomes apparent once loaded into the project. Not awesome, but functions. Hopefully this won't be as annoying in the future, say 2025 release of revit!
