So you've spent weeks and weeks building a Revit template suited to your workplace, your region, your standards, etc etc.Not a crappy template that was copied online and slightly adapted to suit, but a full blown template that was developed from scratch and preloaded with the necessary families, categories, fonts, linetypes, filters, view templates etc etc that are needed.A template that has a range of wall, floor and roof buildups that are used regularly and drawing sheets with views setup to cater for typical working project. Real detailed stuff!I'm talking 250+ hours. I'm talking a moderately loaded, 40Mb template file.and then someone comes along and offers to buy it.What would you charge them?

That's a tough question.  I guess it depends on how much you think your time is worth.  250hrs @ $40 an hour is $10k.

Here is another thought.

If you charge $800.00 a copy, and can sell 20 copies, which will have the total of $16,000.00.

Then, you can also offer the services for customization.

If that firm wants to tweak some minor things and send you the ideas. Based on the work involved and your experiences, you can say it would take about 4 hours at $25.00 per hour and not to exceed $100.00. If you are able to finish it in three hours, then you will charge $75.00.

If a major task might take you 40 hours, such as door families with customized schedule; then you can give 30% discount, which would be $700.00.

Here is my two cents.
