Working in Revit 2016
Okay, this is a new one for me, when I purge, the purge command deletes section/views and corresponding callout details. These views have been fully detailed placed on sheets.
I think I have come across an option before to purge sections not placed on sheets but these have been. I did a purge and then going through my drawings noticed a bunch of views gone from my sheets. I didn’t initially realize it was the purge that did it and thought I had inadvertently deleted all these views. I opened up an old copy of the file, copied and pasted my new work into the old file, did a purge again and saw that it was this command that deleted the sections. I then went back and undid the purge command from the original file and recovered all my work. I want to purge this file but don’t want to lose views in the process. What is up with this?
Thanks to the genius who can figure this out.

Could it be that the you did not have the plan which the section is referenced from not on a sheet and thusly it was purged and so it also removed any views that came from that. I havent used 2016 yet but that is the only thing I can think of however this would only happen if you only had one plan view. I could be wrong about this though, I am more or less just guessing.

Could also have something to do with worksets if you are using them

Something we always have to ask anymore is - Have you got all the updates installed? Don't just say yes, you really need to check. Under the Help - the build number specified on the Help > About dialog will be 20150714_1515
I have seen no complaints about an issue like yours and we do not have that problem.

The project is near completion so the sheets have all been set up and thusly, all the plans, sections and details have been placed on the sheets. When I purge the views vanish from the sheets and section cuts from the plans.
Also, I am the only one working in this file and have not set up worksharing or any worksets.
