Why does revit not provide typical columns sizes avaiable like CAD does with the detail manager? I can understand not pre loading them but they don't provide any to load in.

I meant 3D families that you can load in like Detail Components. Not detail components themselves. I am dropping in steel and concrete structure in the model of an existing building.
In each family, there are only a few column types of different sizes. I don't feel like punching in numbers and creating new ones. I don't have a steel manual.

I have several pages of steel columns in my stock library. See image
You don't seem to be using the correct process. Pick structural column in your project then load, then pick structural columns in the library, then column type - etc.

I do not get that library. I just get the last column I placed in after clicking on structural column.

The attached pic shows that I only have 2 types loaded in the project.
