Hi,
Wondering if anyone can suggest the best way to model this ceiling? In an ideal world the lumpy 'form' (maybe created using massing tools?) would be converted to a ceiling thickness (to represent a framework/substructure) so in sections, etc it appeared correctly. The actual surface pattern of bricks is not so important as this image was made using 3DS and grasshopper so could be done again once the main ceiling form was exported back out of Revit into 3DS.
Any tips appreciated!

I have to ask, did someone actually try to make something like this? Obviously, it would never work and would be dangerous with any real bricks.
If you have to model it, some sort of in-place modeling would have to be done. Don't think you can model it to correctly in section, that's when you need 2D linework.

hey WWHub,
Thanks for the concern about feasibility, we are aware of the dangers and challenges and are working with some pretty talented contractors and engineers to come up with a viable solution. I'll be sure to post photos of the completed thing once done - should be pretty awesome.
In terms of the 3D modelling - are you saying Revit is going to struggle? I figured some kind of in-place modelling, but the standard tools of sweeps, extrusions, etc I don't think have the capabilities. I was kind of thinking something like a curtain wall where the surface is broken right down and then nodes points manipulated in space. It's a bit beyond my skill (although have been with Revit since 2002)...

With this type of form you are getting into Massing.
